E-commerce holiday spending is already predicted to set records this year, and consumers have kicked off this trend with record-breaking purchases for Halloween 2021. According to Freightwaves.com, more than 50% of US consumers reported they were planning on shopping online for Halloween this year with 55% reporting they were planning on purchasing their children’s costumes online.
All that online shopping translates into record spending. The National Retail Federation surveyed over 8,000 people this past September, asking specifically about Halloween plans for 2021. According to the results of that survey, the average American plans on spending approximately $102.74 on Halloween this year, an increase of over $10 from 2020. That adds up to roughly $10.14 billion spent this year on Halloween, with an estimated $2.94 billion of that coming directly from online purchases.
While all this may sound like a treat for retailers with an online presence, bad actors are looking to pull out all-new bags of tricks to take advantage of shoppers and brands. In order to guarantee the safety of consumers and the authenticity of their experiences online, brands need to be able to quickly identify bad actors masquerading behind company trademarks, logos, and brands. Modern brand protection solutions can pinpoint the most egregious offenders, helping you to prioritize your brand protection efforts.
